As it’s tagline will tell you, Ocean City may just be “America’s greatest family resort.” Located way down in Cape May County between Atlantic City and Sea Isle City, OCNJ boasts 8 miles of beaches, where you can surf, swim, sun bathe and just about anything else you can think of. For nightlife, there is a boardwalk that is a very manageable size for families. At just 2.5 miles long, and is filled with mini golf, restaurants, arcades and 2 different amusement/carnival piers.
Best Season to Visit:
OCNJ is definitely a summer destination. As all Atlantic Ocean beaches go, the water is always warmest from the end of July til the end of September. 14 of the Beaches have lifeguards from the last week in June to Labor Day.
Tips:
- If you are looking to surf, head to 7th street or Waverly.
- Most people will tell you that Mack and Manco’s has the best pizza on the boardwalk. That may be true, but the best pizza on the island is by far Express Pizza, located where Atlantic Ave. splits into Battersea Rd.
Beach Hours: Guarded from 10am-5pm
General Boardwalk Hours: 12pm to 11pm
Cost: Beach tags are needed during the summer season. It is $5 a day for a beach tag and they can be purchased at every entrance to the beach. They are also sold for the week at $10 and for the season at $25.
